Coalville RFC Senior Tour

Coalville RFC Senior Tour

Chris Watson20 Aug - 19:06

The senior mens side headed to Scotland for the first mens tour in 15 years!

The Coalville mens side kicked off there pre season in style with a tour of sunny Scotland on the 16th - 19th August.

30 members of CRFC boarded a coach for the long Journey to Edinburgh for 2 games Vs Clydebank RFC, Saturday 17th April and Currie Chieftans on Sunday 18th April.

The Bus left the memorial ground at 7am for what was to be an eventful 7 hour journey north of the border.

Coalville's first match against Clydebank RFC kicked off with a superb 9 try win with highlights being club captain metro's (Matt Wesson) try and conversion towards the end of the match. Final score 7-57 to Coalville.

Currie Chieftans were up next who provided a tougher test and who had a former Coalville player in there ranks by the name of Grant Haggart. A highlight being first team captain taking part in the game only to attempt to take conversions whilst dressed in the club mascot outfit, A feal sight to behold and club vice chairman Matt lay rounding off the scoring with a try in the corner for the last play of the match, He also attempted the conversion but we won't talk about that! Final score 27-47 to Coalville, We even welcomed a few Currie lads on the coach for the return to Edinburgh, A return that certainly livened up the locals, 30+ men emptying a coach dancing and playing music in the street to the delight of passers by.

Much celebrations took place on Sunday evening to celebrate a great tour and a brilliant start to CRFC pre season.

A huge thanks to both Clydebank and Currie Chieftans for your very warm welcome and hopefully we'll see you south of the border in the near future.

Scotland, You've been a blast, Some fantastic memories made (I'll leave that to your imagination) and some excellent rugby played

Onto the next one........
